ENDURING Enjoying

Jesus' leadership,
even in the unknown

By MARCUS YOARS

ABOUT FOLLOWSHIP

Jesus invites everyone to follow Him as a disciple, which means submitting to His leadership. But what if you don’t like how He’s leading, where He’s taking you, what He’s asking you to do, or what He’s allowing you to experience along the way? Jesus’ track record as a leader may be flawless, but let’s be honest: At times, we all question His way of leading.

In Followship, Marcus Yoars examines the timeless dilemma of every human—we naturally want to lead, not follow—and reveals how we can trust Jesus enough to enjoy the journey with Him rather than white-knuckle our way through life. Though we may not know how to navigate what lies ahead, Jesus does; and He invites us into such close fellowship with Him that together we can dance our way into—and through—life’s toughest seasons.

Whether you long to grow more in discipleship or just want to understand God’s ways better, Followship is an inspiring, timely book to help deepen your trust in Him amid increasing uncertainty. A former journalist and award-winning writer, Yoars blends scriptural insight with personal experience—including his current fight against cancer—to identify four phases of followship with Jesus: surrendering, submitting, trusting, and enjoying. Learn how to grow through each stage of the followship journey as you enjoy Jesus as the ultimate leader.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Marcus Yoars lives to know God, love Him, and walk as closely with Him as possible. In the process, he enjoys helping others to do the same through, among other things, his teaching, writing, and music. Marcus worked as a journalist in the US for more than twenty years, including being the editor of Charisma and Ministry Today magazines. As a ghostwriter, he has written books for several New York Times bestselling authors, and some of those projects have also been bestsellers.

Marcus currently serves as the director of the Mountain Bible School (Fjellbibelskolen) in Hemsedal, Norway, where he and his wife, Amber, have lived as missionaries for more than a decade. They spend most of their time training and equipping young adults through Fjellbibelskolen’s various courses, which range from weekend Bible-teaching events to a three-month discipleship course blending outdoor adventures with classroom education. Their passion for discipling and helping others experience more of God is the core of their ministry. Having been married for almost twenty-five years, Marcus and Amber are also seasoned counselors who love helping couples thrive in marriage.

Marcus’ parents were missionaries for almost thirty-five years in Hong Kong, where he was born and raised. That international upbringing shaped his worldview and has been invaluable in equipping him for living in different cultures. He and Amber have two sons, Brayden and Xander, and they couldn’t be prouder of them.
